I have three key topics for this month; Chapter officer changes,
summary of the recently completed State Convention in San Diego, an
upcoming San Jose Chapter officers elections.
First, I have taken over the position of Chapter President, effective
as of May 8 2011. Brother Ralph Manfredo has been removed from his
position as Chapter President due to violation of the Supreme Chapter
Constitution Law, specifically Chapter XVIII SEC. 161(23) (Appeal for
Political Support) which states: 162.23 Issuing appeal for, or soliciting by virtue of his membership in the Knights Of Columbus, aid, or assistance or support by or in behalf of or announcing candidates for public office, or candidates for office (including delegates to States and Supreme councils)
in other society or body or in the Order,; fine, suspension or
expulsion.
State Deputy, Ivan Reek, made the final decision on type of
punishment for this violation of constitution law. Brother Ralph
has the Right to Appeal the judgment and remains a brother in good
standing. He now retains the position of "Past Chapter President".
Please congratulate our Past Chapter President Ralph Manfredo on a job
well done for this past term.
The State Convention in San Diego has come and gone with decent
amount of San Jose delegates in attendance. I heard of several San
Jose Knights in attendance but didn't see them during the business
meeting or at the hospitality suite; I hope you had a good time.
Here is a brief summary of the convention:
- The business meetings were short and to the point
- There were "no" changes to State Constitutions By-Laws
- The opening and closing masses had an "extra-ordinary"
amount of clergy in attendance due efforts by State Chaplain
Rev. Mel Long & Supreme Director of Chaplain Programs &
Development Rev. John P. Grace, O.S.A.
The entertainment evening was surprising fun and more professional
than past events (based on feedback from entertainment industry
insiders).
The election of new State Officers for CY 2011-2012 has been
completed. The elected officers will resume their positions as of
July 1st, 2011. The election results are as follows:

Finally, please read about the changes for the upcoming chapter
elections.
