And they're off!

They are off to the races as all of District 27 Councils have had their officers installed this month. I want to thank all of the officers and family members who participated in the ceremonies. Having wives at the side of the officer adds to the support each needs and deserves as he shoulders his responsibilities. I also want to extend a hearty thank you to our worthy Chapter President and Former District Deputy Ralph Manfredo who took time out of his busy schedule to assist me as the District Warden to complete the Installations.

The next big event is the District Deputy Workshop on August 7 at St Thomas of Canterbury Parish, 1522 McCoy Ave, San Jose, 95130. Attendees will include Grand Knights, Financial Secretaries, Program Directors, and Council Committeemen. All five of the District Deputies will be leading this workshop and providing information from the Supreme and State Councils about this year’s programs. The session start at 9:00 AM and will last 3 hours.

I am looking for a 3rd Degree member to be the District 27 Warden. The DW acts as the assistant to the District Deputy, assisting with various ceremonials, such as Officer Installation, and acting in his absence. For example if there are two Councils that meet on the same evening, the DD can attend only one of them. The DW can attend for the DD to represent him and to make the DD Report as part of the business meeting. Some of the expenses are covered, such as the round trip driving to the meeting and any meals (up to $10 per meeting). The DW can also be a DD-in-Training to step in when the current DD leaves the position. Anyone who would like more information, please contact me at the numbers listed below. The big goal this year is recruiting. There will be two recruiting drives sponsored by the State this year, and another two by Supreme. Each Council is free to set up the recruiting at their parishes on the schedule that works best with the parish schedule. Councils will report results of drives to the DD so that the data can be forwarded to the State and Supreme offices.
